Itinerary:
This
is a package made up of multiple individual tours. No accommodation
is provided between tours like some other packages because
of the length of this special package to ensure more flexibility
considering the amount of time to travel
ATTENTION: This tour is only for fit and active people,
who can hike 5-9kms a day over uneven terrain, often in high
temperatures. Temperatures can be extreme i.e. very high during
summer days and very cold during winter nights. Adventure
Tours reserves the right to assess the fitness capability
of passengers prior to tour departure. Tour is not suitable
for children. Due to the remote nature of the Kimberley region
we use bush camps with limited facilities on some nights.
There is a STRICT LUGGAGE LIMIT of 15kgs per person,
in a backpack or soft bag.

Day
1 - Perth to Kalbarri
We depart
Perth and head north through market gardens and vineyards
to join up with Highway 1 on our way to Nambung National Park
and the fascinating Pinnacles Desert. From here we continue
on to Kalbarri and our overnight accommodation. (LD) (H)

2 - Kalbarri to Denham
After
an early rise we have a short drive to Murchison Gorge in
Kalbarri National Park. This afternoon it's time to make our
way toward Monkey Mia, stopping at the beautiful Shell Beach
and then onto Denham for our overnight stop. (BLD) (H)
Day
3 - Denham to Warroora
After
a short drive across the Peron Peninsula we make our way down
to the beach and the world famous Monkey Mia dolphins. Heading
further north we visit the stromatolites and then on past
Carnarvon. We finish the day by driving off the highway and
out to Warroora sheep station. (BLD) (SS)
Day
4 - Warroora to Coral Bay & Exmouth
Today
is yours to explore Coral Bay and the wonders of the Ningaloo
Reef and its fantastic marine life. Today is a day to relax.
Late afternoon we drive the short distance to Exmouth. (BLD)

5 - Exmouth
A full
day to explore Exmouth. After breakfast it's time to jump
on the bus and head out to Turquoise Bay and Yardie Creek
in the Cape Range National Park. We return to our hostel late

Day
6 - Exmouth to Karijini National Park
We head
inland today towards the oasis that is Karijini. We will take
on extra provisions in the iron ore mining town of Tom Price
this afternoon before setting up our camp overlooking the
magnificent Hamersley Range in time for a spectacular sunset.

7 & 8 - Karijini National Park
The Hamersley
Ranges were formed over 2,500 million years ago and are some
of the most unusual landforms on earth. From cascading waterfalls
found deep in the gorges to fresh still pools ideal for swimming,
we experience it all. Some of the gorges are so narrow that
you can touch both sides at once. (BLD) (C)

9 - Karijini National Park to Eighty Mile Beach
We leave
the oasis of Karijini behind and today we will pass through
the mining port of Port Hedland on the way to Eighty Mile
Beach. A town tour of Port Hedland will have you marveling
at the way the iron ore industry works. (BLD) (BC)

10 - Eighty Mile Beach to Broome
Relax
and enjoy a leisurely morning. You may prefer to swim or take
a stroll along this massive expanse of virgin beach before
we head into Broome. (BL)

1 - Broome
Two days
of leisure in this historic northern pearling town. There
is plenty to see and do in Broome, time to just relax or laze
on the beach in idyllic weather conditions on the famous Cable
Beach or view some of the old Pearling Luggers. We start our
time here with a town tour to show you the sights. (B) (H)

2 - Broome to Windjana Gorge
After
leaving Broome we stop briefly at Willare Bridge to gaze in
awe at the size of this river and the amount of water that
flows in the mighty Fitzroy River during the wet season, continuing
on we leave the bitumen behind as we head for the Oscar Range
and on to Tunnel Creek, a 750 metre tunnel that passes under
the Napier range rich in bush-ranger history: just ask your

3 - Gibb River Rd and gorges
After
spending a few pleasant hours exploring Windjana Gorge with
its abundance of freshwater crocodiles it's time to hit the
track again as we travel along the famous Gibb River road
to Bells Gorge where we have the chance for a refreshing swim.

4 - Gibb River Road & gorges
A great
day of swimming and hiking as we explore some of the Kimberley's
striking gorges - maybe Barnett, Manning, Adcock or Galvans
depending on the time of year. Overnight bush camp. (BLD)

5 - Gibb River Road to Parry Farm
We continue
along the rugged Gibb River Road, travelling through some
ancient and spectacular country before crossing the Pentecost
River and heading to the famous El Questro Station. We walk
into the beautiful Cockburn Ranges for a swim under the waterfall
at Emma Gorge. We call in at Wyndham and the Five Rivers Lookout
before heading to our overnight camp at Diggers Rest Cattle
Station or Parry Farm. (BLD) (C)

6 - Parry Farm to Bungle Bungles National Park
We start
the day visiting the bird watchers paradise of Marlgu Billabong,
then sit back and admire the awesome scenery of the Carr Boyd
and Durack Ranges as we head to Turkey Creek. We take a challenging
4WD trip into the Bungle Bungle (Purnululu) National Park
for sunset over the Osmond Ranges and our overnight bush camp.

7 - Bungle Bungle National Park
We spend
a full day exploring the unusual rock formations of the Bungle
Bungles mastiff, visiting the unique Frog Hole, the breathtaking
Echidna Chasm and the magnificent Cathedral Gorge. We have
time for an optional scenic helicopter flight (at own expense)
over the Bungles before heading to our overnight bush camp.

8 - Bungle-Bungles to Kununurra
This
morning we engage 4WD to wind our way out of the Bungle-Bungles
before heading to the capital of the North - Kununurra. This
afternoon we explore Hidden Valley - just a stones throw from
Kununurra township. Tonight you may have the luxury of a shower!!

9 - Kununurra to Victoria River
This
morning we drive out to Lake Argyle and the Ord River Dam.
Time to take in the magnificent expanse of the largest man
made lake in Australia. This afternoon we cross the border
into the Northern Territory. Time permitting we may have a
look in at the Keep River National Park before heading to
our camp on the Victoria River. (BLD) (BC)

10 - Victoria River to Darwin
We begin
our final leg this morning with the short leg to Katherine
where we have a brief visit to Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge.
Heading north now we stop at Edith Falls for a final refreshing
and relaxing swim before heading into Darwin. (BL)

1 - Darwin to Mary River
See the
falls of Litchfield National Park before heading to the spectacular
Mary River Wetlands, home to a vast array of bird life. This
afternoon look for 'crocs' and other abundant wildlife on
our private river cruise. Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness
Lodge where we stay overnight in our private campsite. (LD)

2 - Mary River to Kakadu
Our first
stop is Ubirr where we discover ancient Aboriginal rock art
and climb to enjoy picturesque views. We continue on to Maguk
(Barramundi Gorge), where we hike to the plunge pools for
a refreshing dip. Stay overnight at our permanent camp within
Kakadu NP. (BLD)
Day
3 - Kakadu to Darwin
This
morning we 4WD into the awesome Jim Jim Falls, hiking to the
base of the falls then continue on to Twin Falls. Here we
join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience
up the stunning gorge to the waterfall and sandy bank. In
the afternoon we return to Darwin, enjoying the impressive
scenery along the way. (BL)

Day 1 - Darwin to Katherine Gorge
Leaving
Darwin, we stop for a break at Adelaide River on the way to
Katherine. We spend the whole afternoon at the majestic Katherine
Gorge (Nitmiluk), which is part of the Nitmiluk National Park.
Experience the striking beauty while canoeing or cruising
(at own expense) through the gorge itself. Tonight we stay
at our permanent camp near Katherine Gorge. (LD)
Day 2 - Katherine Gorge to Tennant Creek
Not far
to the south is Mataranka, where you can revive in a sparkling
thermal pool surrounded by lush tropical forest. Next stop
is the iconic Daly Waters outback hotel, the Territory's oldest
pub. Nearby lies Australia's first international airport,
but you won't get a flight back home from here these days!
After lunch, we continue south to Tennant Creek where we camp
overnight at Juno Horse Farm. (BLD)
Day 3 - Tennant Creek to Alice Springs
This
morning we check out the sacred site of the Devils Marbles,
which balance precariously on their rocky perch. From here
we stop in at Barrow Creek Pub, home to the historic Telegraph
Station 'catch a glimpse of what Outback telecommunication
used to be like! A visit to Ti Tree gives you the chance to
buy original works of art by Indigenous artists, before crossing
over the Tropic of Capricorn to arrive in Alice Springs late
in the afternoon. (BL)

Day 1 - Alice Springs to Kings Canyon & Uluru
Journey
deep into the remote 'Red Centre'as we head towards Kings
Canyon. There's a lot to explore here and we check out the
Amphitheatre, Lost City, the lush and ancient Garden of Eden
and the sheer outcrops of the North and South Walls. After
a bite to eat, we'll pass Mt Connor and Curtin Springs cattle
station on the way to Uluru. Tonight, you'll be glad to curl
up in your swag (Aussie bedroll) after dinner as millions
of stars fill the sky. (LD)
Day 2 - Uluru and Kata Tjuta
Sunrise
over Uluru is magical! It's an early start to catch it. While
the morning's fresh (and your legs are too!) take a walk around
Uluru's base or climb to the top if you choose 'however, the
Anangu traditional owners prefer if you don't. Gain a further
insight into the land, its stories and the people who inhabit
it at the Cultural Centre, where you'll also have the opportunity
to invest in original arts and crafts by Indigenous artists.
After refuelling with some lunch, we head to fascinating Kata
Tjuta (The Olgas) to discover the secrets of this ancient
landform during a hike through the Valley of the Winds. A
glass of Australian sparkling wine is perfect while the desert
sun sets over Uluru. Dinner is a traditional camp oven cookup
back at our permanent camp. (BLD)
Day 3 - Uluru to Coober Pedy
We get
away early this morning as we cross the Northern Territory/South
Australian border on the way to Coober Pedy. Time to go underground!
Learn about this unique place with a mine tour, including
an opal cutting demonstration. If we've got time, try your
luck at 'noodling'for opals yourself! Tonight we sleep in
an underground bunkhouse. (BLD)
Day 4 - Coober Pedy to Rawnsley Park
Today
we keep heading south along the Stuart Highway, travelling
past the 'rocket-launching'town Woomera on the way to lunch
at Port Augusta. We reach Rawnsley Park, a sheep station set
against the spectacular range of Wilpena Pound in the late
afternoon and spend the night here in bunkhouse accommodation.

Day 5 - Wilpena Pound to Parachilna
Challenge
yourself this morning as we get an early start to tackle Mount
Ohlssen-Bagge, where sweeping views of Wilpena Pound, the
Flinders Ranges, the desert and Lake Torrens will be spread
out before you. You'll be ready for some lunch before we drive
through the stunning Parachilna Gorge (weather permitting)
on our way to Parachilna. Get ready for tonight's BBQ dinner
'it doesn't get more Aussie than this! We stay in dorm accommodation
in Parachilna. (BLD)
Day 6 - Parachilna to Adelaide
Check
out some interesting Aboriginal rock art this morning with
a short walk to Yourambulla Caves, before lunch in the quaint
historic railway town, Quorn. Ruggedly beautiful Alligator
Gorge, renowned for its distinct flora and fauna, is a great
place to stretch your legs on an interpretive walk (seasonal).
From here, our journey continues through the picturesque Clare
Valley before arriving in Adelaide. (BL)

Day 1 - Adelaide to Grampians NP
Travelling
through the picturesque Adelaide Hills, we cross Australia's
king of rivers, the mighty Murray, and pass through some little
South Australian country towns on our way to the Grampians
National Park. Get your legs working this afternoon with hikes
at Hollow Mountain and the amazing MacKenzie Falls. We'll
be rewarded with breathtaking sunset views from The Balconies
and Reeds Lookout before we settle in at our overnight Grampians

Day 2 - Grampians NP to Princetown
Hiking
to the Pinnacle is a challenge, but on the way you'll experience
breathtaking views of the national park. Next we head south
to the coast and Warrnambool, where you'll have the chance
to spot whales (seasonal). There's a lot to explore along
the famous Great Ocean Road, renowned for its beauty. Discover
the Bay of Islands, Bay of Martyrs, London Bridge and Lock
Ard Gorge before sunset over the Twelve Apostles 'gorgeous!
Stay overnight in the coastal township of Princetown. (BD)
Day 3 - Princetown to Melbourne
Climb
down the Gibson Steps to the beach to get a different angle
of the Twelve Apostles, and then we'll spend some time at
the Otway Fly, a 25 metre high elevated tree top walk. Continuing
on, we pass through the magnificent cool temperate rainforests
of the Otway National Park. We'll stop for lunch (own expense)
at the coastal town of Apollo Bay. Hugging the coastline,
we pass through Lorne, before our next stop where we'll search
for koalas. We'll check out the world famous Bells Beach before
taking a shopping break at the surfing town Torquay, home
of surf labels Quiksilver and Rip Curl. With some bargains
in your bags, we make our way into Melbourne and arrive in

Day 1 - Melbourne to Lakes Entrance via Wilsons Promontory
NP
We travel
southeast of Melbourne through pastoral South Gippsland to
Wilsons Promontory National Park. Walk along gleaming beaches,
watch the ocean pound onto the southernmost point of the mainland,
hike along amazing granite rock formations and learn about
coastal flora and native wildlife. You might even see emus
and wombats! In the afternoon we travel to the coastal town
of Lakes Entrance. Here, we're at the Gateway to the Gippsland
Lakes and Australia's longest beach 'Ninety Mile Beach. (D)
Day 2 - Lakes Entrance to Snowy River Country
This
morning we begin our journey into Snowy River Country, taking
a break to fly down the 'zip wire'(optional activity at own
expense). It's a spectacular drive along Barry Way, crossing
the state border into NSW and high into the Australian Alps
(seasonal Nov-May). Hiking along an alpine track (2.5 hour
roundtrip) rewards you with stunning views of the glacial
'Blue Lake'and the top of Mt Kosciuszko (Australia's highest
point). During winter, we've got time to play in the snow
at the ski resort of Perisher/Smiggins (optional toboggan
hire or snow tube at own expense). Tonight you'll enjoy dinner
and overnight accommodation at Lake Jindabyne. Kick back and
relax with a sauna, swim or a drink at the bar. (BD)
Day 3 - Jindabyne to Sydney via Canberra
If you're
up early there's time for trout fishing in the lake or you
could even go water skiing or wake boarding (all at own expense
and seasonal). Leaving Jindabyne, we pass through Cooma. Next
stop is Canberra, Australia's capital city. We'll check out
Parliament House and other city highlights before travelling
continuing on to Sydney. (B)

We head
out of Sydney past the Sydney Olympic site to our first stop
where we view wild Eastern Grey Kangaroos in native bush habitat.
These 'roos' are pretty big and you can get up close and personal.
We do a 2-3 hour loop walk near Wentworth Falls to see this
waterfall, lookout points and surround. You will walk through
changing vegetation, hanging swamps, and under rock ledges
giving you an overview of the dramatic Blue Mountains environment.
Lunch is included - you'll eat a nutritious lunch, everything
from fruit, sandwiches, salads & more.
After lunch, we walk down the historic Furber Stairs into
Jamison Valley through lush rainforest, past picturesque Katoomba
Falls and view the incredible 3 Sisters rock formations.
From the bottom of the Jamison Valley, board the Scenic Railway
(fare included), the steepest railway in the world and ride
up to the valley rim.
For those staying longer we'll drop you off in Katoomba at
the award-winning YHA at 5.00pm and pick up others. The YHA
is an impressive heritage building and you can experience
some local nightlife in this historic town.
You'll be able to relax as we cruise back into Sydney after
an action packed day.

1: Sydney to Surf Camp
Today
we head to our secluded surf camp, located beachside north
of Sydney. On the spectacular white sandy beaches we meet
up with the crew from Mojo Surf (some of Australia's best
surf instructors) whose mission is to get you standing on
a board by the end of this trip! You will start with a theory
lesson on surfing and then it's straight out to get you on
a board. If surfing isn't for you perhaps sunbake on the crystal
white sands or take a walk around the beautiful headland.
When your surfing or relaxing on the beach is complete, we
have dinner back at the Mojo Beach House. (D)
Day
2: Surf Camp to Brisbane via Byron Bay
After
a delicious breakfast we head north to Byron Bay. Admire the
coastal views at Australia's most easterly point; the Byron
Bay lighthouse. From Byron Bay you will travel via the Gold
Coast to Brisbane, stopping off to try one of the craziest
adventure activities ever developed by the kiwis 'zorbing
(optional extra). Roll down a hill in a 3.5metre plastic ball
filled with warm water for a huge amount of fun, and then
continue on to Brisbane. (B)

3: Brisbane to Rainbow Beach
This
morning we take a short break at the spectacular lookout at
Wild Horse Mountain. Enjoy panoramic views of the Sunshine
Coast overlooking Noosa and Mooloolaba, before arriving at
Rainbow Beach; a vibrant young coastal town, with glistening
coloured sands and a relaxed atmosphere. In the afternoon
we participate in a sea kayak trip to paddle amongst wild
dolphins at Double Island Point. If you are lucky you may
also see turtles and thousands of soldier crabs. This evening
relax in our accommodation, located just 100 metres from the
beach. (D)
Days
4 - 5 : 2 Day Fraser Island Tour
Spend
the next two days exploring Fraser Island on a ranger guided
4WD safari with Fraser Explorer, staying at Eurong Resort.
You will drive along Seventy-Five Mile Beach, visit Lakes'Wabby
and Mackenzie, Eli Creek, the Maheno Wreck and climb Indian
Head. Return to Rainbow Beach for an overnight stay. (Day
4: LD Day 5: BLD)
Day
6: Rainbow Beach to Kroombit Cattle Station
This
morning take part in a cultural demonstration from your guide,
learning about the didgeridoo, boomerang and spear throwing,
and the Rainbow Serpent. After a few hours at Rainbow Beach
we head inland through cattle country to Kroombit Cattle Station.
Here we experience genuine outback living with the chance
to ride a mechanical bull and take a walk of the property.
Tonight you will taste a traditional camp oven dinner, cooked
in the open fire. (D)
Day
7: Kroombit Cattle Station
Today
is jam-packed with wonderful activities also included in the
price of your tour. Learn first-hand about Queensland farming
life as you participate in a “muster'on horseback, try your
skill at trap-shooting and witness a mini-rodeo as animals
are herded into the ring. This evening enjoy another hearty
camp-oven dinner and re-live your days experiences around
the campfire with a beer from the bush bar. (BLD)

8: Kroombit to Carnarvon Gorge
This
morning, start the day with a hearty bush breakfast, before
heading further inland through Central Queensland's remote
outback to the little known jewel of Carnarvon National Park.
Carnarvon Gorge, central to this park is a remarkable natural
attraction with 30kms of walking trails, 200 species of birds,
ancient plants and Aboriginal rock-art dating back 3,500 years.
This afternoon we will get a taste of the gorge with a short
walk amongst the numerous kangaroos and wallabies that inhabit
the area. Camp overnight adjacent to Carnarvon National Park.

9: Carnarvon Gorge
Chances
are that your sleep will be broken this morning by the many
birds that live amongst trees surrounding the camp. After
breakfast you will spend the full day hiking through the many
walking trails scattered throughout this magnificent gorge.
Walks are mostly of easy grade and therefore suitable for
all ages and fitness levels, however the options are varied.
You will see 500 year old cycads, grass trees and eucalypts,
native wildlife and learn about the indigenous ancestors that
inhabited this region for more than 3500 years. See the best
examples of rock-art in Queensland, made from the ochre taken
from the region. After a days exercise, you will return to
your camp for a good nights sleep within this wilderness region.

10: Carnarvon Gorge to Airlie Beach
We start
early today for our big drive from Carnarvon Gorge to the
Mackay region. This is the first time we've hit the coast
in four days and we now follow the coast to arrive at the
Whitsunday gateway of Airlie Beach where we stay overnight.

Days
11-13: Whitsunday Sailing
You will
have the opportunity to sun-bathe, snorkel and swim whilst
exploring the idyllic Whitsunday Islands on a yacht worth
millions of dollars. Visit the many beaches, coves and islands
on this two night sailing trip, with the opportunity to hoist
the sails and even take the wheel. Note that you will sleep
on the boat, moored in quiet coves. Cabins are share only;
no twin and doubles for these two nights. Back on land, we
leave Airlie Beach and head to Townsville. From here we take
the ferry to Magnetic Island, so named by Captain Cook because
his compass went crazy when he sailed past in 1771. This evening,
relax with a cold beer and watch the sunset from the beach
bar of the only backpackers in Australia located right on

Day
14: Magnetic Island to Cairns
We head
out early for the historical forts walk, keeping an eye out
for the koalas in their natural habitat and taking in stunning
panoramic views of the Coral Sea. After the short ferry trip
back to the mainland, we drive to the Johnstone River Crocodile
Farm to learn more about the most feared animal in Northern
Australia: the estuarine or saltwater crocodile. Learn how
this prehistoric animal has survived and flourished in Australia's
harsh north and see large crocodiles up close and personal.
From here, we stop at Babinda Boulders for a refreshing rainforest
walk. As we arrive into Cairns, you will be able to cherish
the many great experiences of Australia's East Coast.

1 - Cairns to Cape Tribulation
Our guide
will give you great insight into the wildlife, rainforest
and local culture as you travel along one of the most scenic
drives in Australia. Visit the unique Rainforest Habitat and
experience up close many rare and endangered native animals,
such as the Cassowary and Tree Kangaroo. Our next stop is
Mossman Gorge in the World heritage Daintree National Park

a swim (weather depending). We continue north to the Daintree
River to board a wildlife cruise; searching the mangroves
for 'crocs' and other wildlife before arriving in Cape Tribulation
at your choice of accommodation. Overnight accommodation included.

Day
2 - Day trip to the Great Barrier Reef
You will
be picked up from your accommodation for your full day tour
to the pristine reefs off Cape Tribulation. Enjoy unlimited
snorkelling (snorkelling gear included) or, if you have not
dived before, why not try a fully guided introductory dive
- an unforgettable experience in a safe environment with our
qualified instructors. We also cater for certified divers
and provide all scuba equipment (at additional cost). We get
back to accommodation by 4.00pm in time to start our express
travel back to Cairns. (L)
