Tasmania
is located off the southeast corner of mainland Australia.
It is Australia's smallest state in terms of both size and
population, yet is a major tourist attraction due to the diverse
and spectacular scenery, unspoilt wilderness and rich history.
Spectacular views and world renowned wilderness, clean air,
cool fresh water, rich soil and gourmet produce are proof
that Tasmania has been truly blessed by Nature. Discover the
precious jewel in Australia's south with Adventure Tours,
Australia's leading small group tour operator. Our Tasmanian
Tours are all ACCOMMODATED.
Itinerary:
1st
November 2007 - 31st March 2009
Day 1
- Hobart to Strahan
First
we travel to Mount Field National Park, where we stretch our
legs on the Russell Falls and Tall Trees walks. We continue
on to Lake St Clair for a view of Australia's deepest lake.
On our way to Strahan we hike and explore the Franklin Gordon
National Park. We spend tonight in our own exclusive accommodation
in the historic coastal township of Strahan where your guide
will fill you in on the amazing history of 'pining, mining
and convicts'!. (LD)
Day 2
- Strahan to Cradle Mountain Region
This
morning we enjoy the intriguing history of Strahan with options
to suit everyone! Take a stroll along the foreshore
or up the Water Tower Hill for a priceless lookout over Macquarie
Harbour and Ocean Beach; walk through a rainforest to Hogarth
Falls (if you're quiet and lucky you may even spot a platypus);
if you are feeling more adventurous arrange with your guide
to canoe in a nearby lake (at no extra cost). Another
option is to join a catamaran cruise of the central highlands
and the notorious Hells Gates (at own expense). Later, we
take a walk through the Henty Sand Dunes, where you can even
take a quad bike tour (at own expense). In the afternoon
we visit the 'Silver City'of Zeehan. In the late
afternoon you'll have the opportunity for a bicycle ride
(included) at our overnight lodge accommodation. (BLD)
Day 3
-Cradle Mountain to Devonport
Today
we discover the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park.
Enjoy the pure air with a guided walk around lovely Dove Lake,
or challenge yourself with a more strenuous hike (unguided)
to view Cradle Mountain. We spend this afternoon exploring
more of the state's mid north before our arrival in Devonport.
(BL)

Day 2 including the Henty Sand Dunes.

Important
Information on Tasmanian Tours:
Please
be aware that we finish our 3 Day West Coast Tour and 7 Day
Tour in Devonport. You cannot travel to Launceston on the
night the tour finishes. The tour arrives in Devonport usually
by 6.45pm at the latest so we can still meet up with the Spirit
of Tasmania ferry for those travelling the same night to Melbourne.
Other travellers must stay in Devonport overnight. If there
is room on the bus on the following morning, they are more
than welcome to get a free transfer from Devonport to Launceston
for any flight connections. Providing that their flight out
from Launceston does not leave before 11am they will be able
to make the flight connection. The guide will drop them in
town in Launceston, not at the airport (the airport is 25km
out of Launceston and in the opposite direction from where
the tour is going). Travellers will generally arrive in Launceston
at approx. 9am and can then get a taxi or the shuttle bus
to the airport at their own expense.
