ITINERARY:
Day 1 - Perth to Kalbarri
We depart Perth and head north through market gardens and
vineyards to join up with Highway 1 on our way to Nambung
National Park and the fascinating Pinnacles Desert.
After exploring these unique formations we travel through
Geraldton and continue on to Kalbarri and our
overnight accommodation. (LD) (H)
Day
2 - Kalbarri to to Denham
After an early rise we have a short drive to Murchison
Gorge in Kalbarri National Park. Here we take time
to view Natures Window, the Loop and discover the wonders
of the Z-Bend Gorge. At Z-Bend Gorge there is an exhilarating
150 metre descent into the heart of the gorge - well worth
the effort! Reward yourself with a swim in the tranquil fresh
water pools. For the adventurous there is an opportunity to
try your hand at abseiling (optional
activity at own expense). This afternoon it's time
to make our way toward Monkey Mia, stopping at the
beautiful Shell Beach and then onto Denham for
our overnight stop. (BLD)(H)
Day
3 - Denham to Warroora
After a short drive across the Peron Peninsula we make
our way down to the beach and the world famous Monkey Mia
dolphins - this is a unique opportunity with some fantastic
photo opportunities including the local pelicans. Heading
further north we visit the stromatolites at Hamelin Pool
and then on past Carnarvon. We finish the day by
driving off the highway and out to Warroora sheep station.
Tonight we enjoy dinner around an open fire before heading
of to bed in the shearers quarters. (BLD) (SS)
Day 4 - Warroora to Coral Bay & Exmouth
Today is yours to explore Coral Bay and the wonders
of the Ningaloo Reef and its fantastic marine life.
You can go snorkeling; swim with manta rays or whale sharks
(seasonal); cruise on a glass bottom boat; take a quad
bike tour or even a joy flight over the reef (all
optional activities at own expense). Alternatively
just chill out on the beach as today is a day to relax! Late
afternoon we drive the short distance to Exmouth. (BLD)
(H)
Day
5 - Exmouth
A full day to explore the Exmouth region! After breakfast
we head to Yardie Creek in the Cape Range National
Park and then as we journey back to Exmouth we stop at
beautiful Turquoise Bay with time for a swim or sun-bake
on the beach and enjoy spectacular views from historic Vlahming
Head Lighthouse. We return to our accommodation mid afternoon.
(BL
Day
6 - Exmouth to Karijini NP
This morning we head inland through vast Pilbara cattle
stations towards the oasis that is Karijini. This afternoon
we will take a short break in the iron ore mining town of
Tom Price before setting up our camp overlooking the
magnificent Hamersley Range in time for a spectacular
sunset. (BLD) (BC)
Day 7 & 8 - Karijini National Park
It takes a full two days to fully explore and bask in the
magnificence of this national park and it's gorges. The Hamersley
Ranges were formed over 2,500 million years ago and are some
of the most unusual landforms on earth. From cascading waterfalls
found deep in the gorges to fresh still pools ideal for swimming,
we experience it all. Some of the gorges are so narrow that
you can touch both sides at once. We will visit areas such
as Dales, Gorge, Fortesque Falls, Fern Pool, Circular
Pool, Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge amongst
others. The highlight of many passengers trip to Australia.
(BLD) (C)
Day
9 - Karijini National Park to Eighty Mile Beach
On the road again we head towards the coast and the iron ore
port of Port Hedland where on a brief town tour, we
marvel at the sheer size of the operations involved in the
iron ore industry. We then start the last leg of our journey
towards Broome, spending our last night together at
beautiful Eighty Mile Beach. (BLD) (C)
Day 10 - Eighty Mile Beach to Broome
A leisurely morning to take in the glory of the stretching
sands. As the name suggests this beach goes for miles! Enjoy
a stroll along the beach or a refreshing swim before hitting
the road again to arrive Broome mid-afternoon. (BL)
